ZBGC LLC ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Smartr mobile application. Your privacy is at the core of everything we build. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how we keep it safe.
1. Information We Collect
We only collect information that is necessary to provide and improve the Smartr experience. Here's what we may collect:
Personal Information
- Account Information: Your name, email address, and authentication data when you create an account via Apple Sign-In or Google Sign-In.
Financial Information
- Bank Data (via Plaid): Transaction data, account balances, merchant names, categories, and account identifiers obtained through your connected bank accounts via Plaid. Smartr never stores your bank login credentials — all bank authentication is handled securely by Plaid.
- Apple Wallet Data (via FinanceKit): With your permission, we may access financial data from Apple Wallet — including Apple Card, Apple Cash, and Savings — through Apple's FinanceKit framework for spending tracking purposes.
- Manual Entries: Transactions, budgets, and subscription information you manually enter into the app.
Usage & Device Information
- Usage Data: Information about how you interact with the app, including features used, time spent, and app performance metrics.
- Device Information: Device type, operating system version, and unique device identifiers for the purpose of delivering the service and troubleshooting.
- Receipt Images: When you use our receipt scanning feature, images are processed using on-device optical character recognition (OCR) to extract transaction details. Receipt images are not uploaded to our servers.
Advertising Identifiers
- IDFA: With your explicit consent (via Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt), we may collect your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) to measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information solely to deliver and improve the Smartr experience:
- Display your spending across three time periods: Today, This Week, and This Month.
- Generate spending predictions and category breakdowns.
- Detect and track recurring subscriptions and upcoming bills.
- Provide spending streaks, daily check-ins, and financial habit insights.
- Power AI-driven financial insights and personalized chat responses.
- Generate daily financial trivia and personalized quizzes.
- Sync your financial data securely across your devices.
- Measure advertising campaign effectiveness and attribute app installs.
- Improve the app and develop new features.
We will never sell, rent, or share your personal financial information with third parties for marketing purposes. Your money data is yours.
3. AI-Powered Features
Smartr includes an AI Chat feature that provides personalized financial insights. When you use this feature, a summarized version of your financial data (such as spending totals, category breakdowns, and budget information) is sent to Google's Gemini AI through our secure servers (Supabase Edge Functions) to generate responses. No raw transaction details, bank credentials, or personally identifiable financial account numbers are sent to the AI service. Your AI chat conversations are not used to train third-party AI models.
4. Advertising and Tracking
We believe in full transparency around tracking. Smartr will never track you without your permission. If you grant consent through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt, limited data may be used to measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns:
- Device advertising identifier (IDFA) — only with your explicit consent
- Basic app events: Such as account registration and subscription purchases (event type and product identifier only — no personal financial data is ever shared)
You are always in control. You can decline the tracking prompt entirely, or revoke it at any time by going to Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking on your device. Smartr works exactly the same whether you opt in or out.
5. Data Storage and Security
Protecting your data is a top priority. We use industry-standard encryption both in transit and at rest, secure authentication, and strict access controls. Your financial information is stored on secure servers with safeguards against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Bank account credentials are never stored on our servers — all bank authentication is handled directly through Plaid's secure infrastructure.
6. Data Retention
We retain your financial data for as long as your account is active and you continue to use Smartr. Transaction data is typically retained for up to 24 months to provide historical spending insights. You may delete your account and all associated data at any time through the app settings. Upon account deletion, your data will be permanently removed from our systems within 30 days.
7. Your Rights
Your data belongs to you. You always have the right to:
- Access and review the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate personal data.
- Request deletion of your personal data.
- Disconnect your bank account at any time.
- Opt out of ad tracking via your device settings.
- Opt out of non-essential analytics and data collection.
- Export your data in a portable format.
8. Children's Privacy
Smartr is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a minor, please contact us so we can promptly delete it.
9. California Residents
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). You may request to know what personal information we collect, request its deletion, and opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell your personal information. We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of Smartr after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
